- continues the activity that the Journal of Building
Materials has carried out for more than 30 years as it
was first published in 1971. The Journal of Building Materials
has represented a source of information for researchers,
engineers and students in the fields of ceramics, binders
and concretes, glass and composite materials. In the first
years of publication, it was focused on what is meant
by building materials, developing its objectives at the
same time with the fundamental and applied research in
the developed countries, and in our country as well, towards
the interests of the rapid research of the Oxide Materials
Science and Engineering, with regard to performing and
sustainable materials, advanced in the light of its results
and consequences. The change of the name of the journal
was therefore only natural, and it has also become bilingual
since 2002 (Romanian and English) in the Romanian Journal
of Materials, successor, on a higher level, of the series
of issues of the Journal of Building Materials (Romania).
The journal is published quarterly.
Since 2005, the Romanian Journal of Materials is published
by the Foundation for Materials Science and Engineering
"Serban Solacolu". The mentioned foundation
was set up in the homage year Centenary 2005 Serban
Solacolu, founder of the Romanian School of Oxide Materials
Science and Engineering.
The Romanian Journal of Materials aims at reflecting the
storing of knowledge from the scientific investigations
both fundamental and applied.
The Romanian Journal of Materials publishes the results
of original research works referring to the chemical and
phase composition, to the structure, proprieties and technology
used in obtaining ceramics, glass, binders and composite
materials. At the same time, papers referring to modeling
of phenomena and processes, their respective mechanisms,
to statistical interpretations of the results obtained,
to the process engineering are greatly encouraged as well
as integrated preoccupations implying informatics (fundamental

manufacture of performing products, in keeping with the
use functions of these products in various fields, paying
attention to new oxide materials, especially unitary ones
(ceramics, binders and glass), and composites (mortar
and concrete masses, fiber composites, dispersed phase
composites) a.s.o..
The published papers may have an experimental or theoretical
character covering a wide range from the oxide materials
science and technology.
The main objective of the journal is to maintain a high
level of the papers by a rigorous reviewing carried out
by specialists, renowned in the field, both from Romania
and from foreign countries.
